
Air Force Wraps up Action in Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Facing off against athletes from its counterparts along the Front Range, the Air Force track and field team captured four first-place finishes this afternoon (April 27), as they competed at the 7220 Invitational in Laramie, Wyoming. Junior Logan Feasline posted a distance of 174'0" to win the discus throw – one of the largest event fields of the day at the Memorial 8 Track. Registering his second-farthest distance of the season (174'0"), Feasline bettered the 15-thrower field by nearly seven feet.
The junior was one of three Falcons to place within the top four of the overall discus standings, as senior Jackson Spalding and junior Garrett Coalson finished third (167'1") and fourth (165'1"), respectively. Coalson added a runner-up finish in the shot put (season-best 55'0¾"), while senior Luke Piper collected the same placement in the javelin with a throw of 181'11" and classmate Brooks Hardy posted a season-best 181'11" to finish fifth in the hammer throw.
Air Force claimed a victory in the pole vault, as junior Sam Hinegardner cleared 16'4¾" to finish first. The junior, who added a third-place finish in the high jump (6'7"), paced the Falcons to a one-two finish in the pole vault, as freshman Mitch Lipe cleared a career-best 16'0¾" to place second.
On the track, the 4x400-meter quartet of freshman Terrell Davis, classmate Luke Zuluaga, senior Calvin Berstler and classmate Tyler Berson recorded a time of 3:16.31 to defeat Wyoming in a conference dual. Davis and Zuluaga earned top-five finishes in the open 400-meter run, as the pair finished fourth (48.87) and fifth (49.20), respectively, behind career-best times. In addition, junior Miguel Molas added a runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash (career-best 10.74).
Junior Kathryn Tomczak captured a first-place finish in the pole vault (13'1½") to pace the Air Force women. Freshman Kathleen Medill cleared a career-best 5'3¾" to place third in the high jump, while sophomore Ashley Cameron earned the same placement in the 100-meter hurdles following a season-best time of 14.78. Fellow sophomore Sierra Rodriguez improved her personal distance in the discus throw by nearly eight feet to finish sixth with a throw of 144'6".
Air Force, which still has a small contingent of runners competing at the 109th Drake Relays in Des Moines this weekend, the rest of the squad will return to action next Friday (May 4) for the annual Air Force Twilight Open, which is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. (MT) at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
