BOULDER, Colo. – A small contingent of Air Force track and field athletes wrapped up action at the weather-shortened Colorado Invitational on Saturday, April 7, in Boulder. Sophomores Chris Doerr and Heidi Borgerding paced the Falcons at Potts Field with top-five finishes in their respective events.
Doerr recorded a career-best clearance of 15'11¾" to finish third in the pole vault, while Borgerding registered a season-best clearance of 5'5¼" to place fourth in the high jump. Freshman Kathleen Medill helped Air Force to two of the top-six marks in the high jump, as she cleared a career-best 5'3¼" to finish sixth. Fellow freshman Peyton Spires also accounted for a top-six finish from the field, as he finished just one inch off of his career best to finish sixth in the javelin (157'5").
On the track, junior Preston Roche finished 13th out of 44 runners in the 800-meter run (1:54.24), while senior Giulianna Vessa clocked a time of 4:47.30 to place 22nd out of 77 runners in the 1500-meter run.
The Falcons return to action next Saturday (April 14), when they head to Greeley for the NoCo Challenge.
