USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- Highlighted by 17 home contests, the Air Force volleyball team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2018 season this afternoon. The Falcons' full 32-match lineup includes four tournaments and an 18-match Mountain West schedule.
The Falcons, under the direction of third-year head coach Marc Swindle, open the 2018 campaign against UNC Greensboro, Wake Forest and Maryland at the Spartan-Demon Deacon Classic in North Carolina over the Aug 24-25 weekend. Air Force will then travel to Texas to face Loyola, UT Arlington and Binghamton at the Maverick Classic on Aug 31-Sept 1, before opening the home portion of its season against McNeese State on Sept 3. The Falcons remain at the Academy to host CSU Bakersfield, Valparaiso, Cal Baptist and Presbyterian in the fifth-annual Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic on Sept 6-8, before closing out the non-conference slate with home contests against Maryland Eastern Shore, Samford and Navy on Sept 14-15.
The conference slate begins at the Academy on Sept 23, when Air Force hosts San Diego State in the only meeting of the season between the two squads. The Falcons will play home-and-home series with Boise State (road: Oct 20, home: Nov 15) , Colorado State (road: Oct 5, home: Nov 1), Nevada (home: Oct 13, road: Nov 8), New Mexico (home: Sept 30, road: Oct 27), San Jose State (home: Oct 11, road: Nov 10), UNLV (home: Sept 28, road: Oct 25), Utah State (road: Oct 18, home: Nov 17) and Wyoming (road: Oct 4, home: Nov 3), before closing out the 2018 season on the road with their lone contest with Fresno State on Nov 19.
