Air Force Travels to Maverick Classic

The Falcons travel to Texas to face Loyola Maryland, UT Arlington and Binghamton.
The Air Force volleyball team returns to action this weekend, when it travels to Arlington, Texas, for the Maverick Classic. The Falcons will face Binghamton (0-3), Loyola Maryland (2-1) and host UT Arlington (0-3) during the two-day tournament at UTA's College Park Center.

Air Force will be playing just outside of Roanoke, Texas - the hometown of Elizabeth Pennington.
HISTORY 101
Air Force has only faced one of this weekend's opponent before, holding a 0-1 mark against UT Arlington after dropping a 0-3 contest to the Mavs in Denver during the 2015 season. The Falcons' match with UTA will mark the first time this season that Air Force has faced a previous opponent.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
This weekend's opponents are a combined 2-7 after the opening weekend of play. Loyola Maryland went 2-1 in its home tournament, defeating Sienna and Towson by 3-1 margins and dropping a 1-3 match to Radford. UT Arlington and Binghamton both went 0-3 on the road, with UTA falling to Arizona State (1-3), New Mexico State (0-3) and Pacific (2-3) and Binghamton dropping matches to Cleveland State (1-3), Canisius (1-3) and Montana State (0-3).
SSOZI AND MIKSCH NAMED TO THE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Abigail Miksch and Denise Ssozi were named to the all-tournament team of the Spartan-Demon Deacon Classic on Aug. 25. It is the fourth all-tournament selection for Miksch and the third for Ssozi.
WHAT A WEEKEND!
The Falcons had a milestone day on Aug. 25, recording the program's first victories over schools from the Atlantic Coast (Wake Forest, 3-1) and Big 10 (Maryland, 3-2) conferences. In addition, the two wins brought Air Force's total number of Division I wins over programs from Power 5 conferences to three (California, 2015).
WHAT'S ON DECK
It's a quick turnaround for the Falcons, who open their home season on Monday, Sept. 3, when they host McNeese State at the Academy's Cadet West Gym at 1:00 p.m. (MT). The match kicks off an 11-match homestand for the Falcons that includes the annual Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic on Sept. 6-8.
