Falcons Set to Host Annual Air Force Team Challenge

Air Force will welcome BYU (#10 men), Colorado State and Grand Canyon to the Academy on Jan. 18.
The Air Force track and field team returns to the Academy this week, as it welcomes BYU, Colorado State and Grand Canyon to the Cadet Field House Indoor Track for the annual Air Force Team Challenge on Friday, Jan. 18.
MEET INFORMATION
The Air Force Team Challenge, which will include visiting teams from BYU (10th-ranked men), Colorado State and Grand Canyon, will be held at the Academy's Cadet Field House. Field events are slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. (MT), while running events get underway at 5:00 p.m. (a complete schedule of events is listed below). Admission is free for the meet. Live results will be available via GoAirForceFalcons.com, while Air Force highlights will be posted on the team's official Twitter account (@af_trackfield).
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
3:00 p.m.: Women's Weight Throw, followed by Men's Weight Throw, Women's Shot Put, Men's Shot Put; 3:00 p.m.: Women's Pole Vault, Men's Pole Vault; 4:00 p.m.: Men's Long Jump, Men's Triple Jump; 4:00 p.m.: Women's Long Jump, Women's Triple Jump; 4:00 p.m.: Women's High Jump, Men's High Jump; 5:00 p.m.: 60-Meter Hurdles (qualifying), 60-Meter Dash (qualifying), Mile Run, 60-Meter Hurdles, 400-Meter Dash, 60-Meter Dash, 800-Meter Run, 200-Meter Dash, 3000-Meter Run, Mile Relay (women compete first in all running events).
LIPE CLAIMS WEEKLY MOUNTAIN WEST AWARD
After winning the pole vault at the Potts Indoor Invitational by one foot, Mitch Lipe was named the Mountain West Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 15. It is the first weekly award for the sophomore, who cleared 15'11" to win the event and lead Air Force to the top four collegiate finishes – and four of the top five.

The Falcons remain at the Academy next week, when they host the Air Force Combined Events Meet (Jan. 24-25) and the Air Force Invitational (Jan. 25-26) at the Cadet Field House Indoor Track.
