Air Force open its two-match road swing against the Wolfpack on Oct. 10.
After spending nine of the last 10 matches within the friendly confines of Cadet East Gym, the Air Force volleyball team heads out on the road this week for a pair of Mountain West contests. The Falcons will travel to Nevada on Thursday, Oct. 10, before heading to San Jose State on Saturday, Oct. 12.
MEET INFORMATION
Live stats and video will be available for both matches via the two home teams (direct links are available on the Falcons' schedule page). Saturday's match at San Jose State will be their "Dig Pink" match, where fans wearing pink receive discounted admission.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
Nevada enters the week with a 13-3 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play. The Wolfpack, who will host San Jose State on Tuesday night, is coming off of a 2-0 road trip with victories at Boise State (3-1) and Utah State (3-0). Kayla Afoa leads Nevada with a 3.70 kills-per-set average, while Sydney Peterson is averaging 1.39 blocks a set.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
San Jose State, which caps a three-match road swing on Tuesday in Reno, is currently 5-10 with a winless mark (0-4) in Mountain West play. The Spartans dropped a pair of conference matches at Utah State (2-3) and Boise State (1-3) last week. Haylee Nelson leads the squad with 3.23 kills-per-set, while Sarah Smevog averages 4.40 digs per set.
SERIES HISTORY
Air Force is currently 7-8 against Nevada and 4-11 against San Jose State in the all-time series with the two programs. The Falcons, who have won their last two meetings with the Wolfpack after earning a pair of five-set victories last season, have won three contests at Virginia Street Gym since 2012. Air Force, which has one victory at Spartan Gym (2014), is in the midst of a six-game overall skid to the Spartans.
FALCONS TAKE A SET FROM COLORADO STATE
Air Force collected a rare 'set' victory over Colorado State on Oct. 5, as it defeated the Rams by a 28-26 margin in the opening game. That win marked just the fourth time that the Falcons have ever taken a set from its in-state counterparts at the Division I level (1999, 2003, 2015, 2019).
CAN YOU DIG IT?!?
Air Force accounted for 94 digs during its five-set contest with Wyoming on Oct. 3 – shattering the Cadet East Gym Record and coming within just one of the program's DI all-time record. The Falcons added 11 digs to the previous facility record that had stood since 2010, while the Cowgirls (88) also bettered the previous mark of 83. Individually, Alex King registered 31 digs on the night to break the Cadet East Gym's record of 28 that was set last year. In addition, Denise Ssozi (19) debuted on the program's DI list for career digs during that match, while King's 44-dig weekend brought her within two of joining the Falcons' all-time DI standings.

Air Force returns to the Academy next week for a pair of Mountain West contests. The Falcons will host Fresno State on Thursday, Oct. 17, before welcoming San Diego State to Cadet East Gym on Saturday, Oct. 19.
