Air Force Opens Action at Colorado Invitational

The Falcons combined for five top-five finishes during the opening day of action in Boulder.
BOULDER, Colo. – A small contingent of athletes from the Air Force track and field team kicked off competition at the Colorado Invitational this afternoon (Feb. 1) in Boulder. Competing in six events at the CU Indoor Practice Facility, the group combined for five top-five finishes.
Junior Logan Grizzle paced Air Force to three of the top-five finishes in the pole vault, as he cleared a season-best mark of 15'11" to finish third in the 11-jumper event. Freshmen Calvin Ciganik and Ethan Gardner recorded matching career-best marks of 15'5" to finish fourth and fifth, respectively. Junior Anthony Davis also picked up a top-five finish during Friday's field action, as he posted a mark of 44'9¾" to finish fourth in the triple jump.
In the only event on the track today at Colorado, Scott Johnson led a squad of Air Force runners in the seeded mile. The sophomore finished fifth in the 16-runner event – second amongst Division I athletes – with an actual time of 4:12.01. Senior Noah Riley also placed within the top half of the field (sixth, 4:12.51), while classmate Jacob Bilvado finished 10th with a time of 4:17.28.
