The Falcons return to action this Saturday, when they face Navy and Army West Point.
After two weekends off from competition, the 13th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team returns to action this Saturday (Feb. 9), when it travels to Annapolis, Md., for the annual All-Academy Championships against 10th-ranked Navy and 12th-ranked Army West Point. Action will begin for the Falcons, who have won the last eight championship meetings, at 1:00 p.m. (ET) inside Macdonough Hall.
MEET INFORMATION
The annual All-Academy Championships will be held at one of the academies for the first time in recent history, as Navy will host the 2019 edition at Macdonough Hall – the site of the upcoming USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships. Live results will be available through Road to Nationals.
LET'S MEET THE OPPONENTS
The Falcons' service academy counterparts faced off in their annual Star Meet last weekend, with Navy earning a narrow 401.100-400.550 come-from-behind victory over Army West Point in New York. The Mids are ranked 10th in the national rankings with an average score of 397.875, while the Black Knights are listed 12th with a 394.675 average.
AIR FORCE IN THE RANKINGS
With an average of 14.275, Lukas Texeira continues to lead the nation on the high bar – and is the only gymnast to hold an average score of more than 14 points on that event. With a 66.950 average, the Falcons' highest team ranking is a No. 11 placement on the floor exercise.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Air Force will face Navy again for its next competition, as the two teams travel to State College, Pa., on Saturday, Feb. 23, for a triangular meet hosted by Penn State. It is the first of two rematches for the Falcons against their service academy counterparts.
