Falcons Host Northern Colorado in Midweek
- The Air Force Academy baseball team returns home for a Tuesday afternoon game against in-state rival Northern Colorado, March 12. First pitch against the Bears at Falcon Field is set for 2 p.m. MT
Following Along At Home
- The game against UNC can be followed via live stats on Statbroadcast, as well as via a live stream on the MW Network. All games can also be followed live on Twitter, @AF_Baseball.
Last Week in Review
- The Falcons went 1-2 during a three game weekend series at San Jose State, March 8-10. The Falcons dropped the first two games in close decisions, before winning the series finale, 5-3, on Sunday.
- In each of the first two games, the score was tied in the sixth inning or later, before the Spartans rallied to win.
Ace Pitching Staff
- The Air Force pitching staff has been close to lights out to start the season, as they rank first in the conference in fewest walks and home runs allowed, while ranking second in team ERA (4.91), and fewest runs and hits allowed.
- Three individual pitchers have sub-2.00 ERAs in Matt Hargreaves (1.32), Nathan Price (1.46), and Jake Gilbert (1.62).
- Both Hargreaves' and Price's ERAs are within the top 100 in the NCAA
- All three also have top-five ERAs in the conference.
- The Falcons late inning arms have got it done as well, as the Falcons are 7-0 when leading after six innings.
The Price is Right
- Freshman RHP Nathan Price has burst onto the scene for the Air Force Falcons to start the season, as the youngster is a perfect 3-0 in his first four outings, with a 1.46 ERA in 12.1 innings.
- Price is holding opponents to a .200 batting average, and he has four strikeouts to just one walk.
- Against No. 14 ECU, Price went the final 5.0 innings in relief, only allowing two hits and one run, while striking out a pair.
Don't Run on Dau
- Senior captain catcher Rob Dau has always had a knack for throwing out would-be base stealers, as he has been top-five in the conference in that category all three seasons, including leading the league as a sophomore in 2017. This season, he has thrown out five good for second in the MW, while also recording three pickoffs to lead the league.
Doubles Machine
- Senior Nic Ready has seven doubles to begin the season to lead the team
- The seven doubles rank second in the MW and 24th in the NCAA
- Ready is 14 doubles away from breaking the school record
Active Career Leader
- With such a successful career to this point, it shouldn't come as much surprise that senior Nic Ready is among the NCAA active career leaders in multiple categories. The Texas is the active career leader in doubles (64), while ranking second among active players in RBIs (187), and total bases (440), and fourth in home runs (37).
On the Horizon
- Air Force remains at home as it returns to MW action this weekend with a three game set against Fresno State, March 15-17. The series begins with a 3 p.m. first pitch on Friday.
