Frankie Valentin Qualifies to Winter Cup Challenge

The Winter Cup Challenge will take place mid-February in Las Vegas.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Backed his performance in the all-around at last weekend's Rocky Mountain Open, Air Force junior Frankie Valentin has qualified for the upcoming Winter Cup Challenge, which will be held Feb. 20-22 in Las Vegas. He is the 14th different Falcon to earn a bid to the prestigious meet since 2004.
Valentin, in his first collegiate all-around, tallied a score of 78.550 to finish fourth amongst collegiate athletes – and sixth in the overall field that included members of the U.S. Olympic Training Center Team. His best finish of the night came on the pommel horse, where he posted a career-best 13.600 to finish fifth in the full 35-gymnast field. Valentin also accounted for team-leading marks on the floor exercise (13.500), vault (13.750) and high bar (12.600), while tying for the team lead on the still rings (13.100).
The Winter Cup Challenge, which will be held at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort, determines the members of the Senior National Team.
