Women’s Tennis Sweeps Sunday Doubleheader Over Northern Colorado and Metro State

Falcons win 7-0 in both matches.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's tennis swept a doubleheader Sunday at the Outdoor and Indoor Tennis Courts with 7-0 wins over both Northern Colorado and Metro State. The Falcons improved to 3-1 on the season.
In the opener vs. Northern Colorado, which was played outside, the Falcons opened with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles for the point. TJ Fumagalli and Nadeen Lieberman downed Mora/Belianovich 6-2 at No. 1 and Kristin Kerrigan and Meredith Jones defeated Wolf/Larson 6-2 at No. 2 for the point.
The Falcons won all six singles matches in two sets to roll to the win.
Kerrigan earned the first singles point at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Madison Wolfe. Jones then defeated Milena Beliano 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Fumagalli then won at No 1. over Sandra Keta 6-2, 6-3 for the winning fourth point.
Lieberman won at No. 3 over Raffa Mora 7-6, 6-2. Sydney Fitch won at No. 5 over Sarina Chhabra 6-3, 6-3. Alex Kuo won at No. 6 over Synclair Larson 6-4, 6-3.
The Falcons kept it rolling in the nightcap indoors vs. Metro State. Kerrigan and Jones opened doubles with a win at No. 2 over Ross/Holton 6-2. Fumagalli and Lieberman downed Porter/Steenberg 6-4 at No. 1 for the doubles point.
In singles, Abby Warner got the first singles point at No. 3, defeating Helena Steenberg 6-1, 6-2. Fumagalli then won at No. 1 over Brooklyn Ross 6-3, 6-1. Lieberman won at No. 2 over Tabitha Porter 6-2, 6-2 for the team winning fourth point.
Kerrigan won at No. 4 over Gala Castello, 7-6, 2-6 (10-6). Fitch won at No. 5 over Kayla Myburgh 6-1, 6-2 and Courtney Swift won at No. 6 over Ainsley Winterrowd 6-4, 5-7 (10-8).
"It was a big weekend for the team to go 3-0," head coach Kim Gidley said. "As coaches, we are still learning a lot about who this group is and what they expect. Today was great because we got to see some more combinations and how some different players competed. Playing from outside to inside was very different too. This team is picking up on the little things and that is great. It will be fun to watch and see how they develop."
Air Force returns to action Friday, Jan. 31 against Creighton in a neutral-site location in Lincoln, Neb.
