Air Force Downed By Fresno State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball fell to Fresno State, 79-68, in Mountain West action Tuesday night at Clune Arena. The setback dropped the Falcons to 9-13, 3-7 MW.
Fresno State (7-14, 3-7 MW) made 14 three's on the night, out-scoring the Falcons 43-32 in the second half.
The duo of guard New Williams and forward Nate Grimes combined for 46 points and nine three's on the night. Williams scored a game-high 25 points, making six three's. Grimes scored 21 and added nine rebounds and three blocked shots.
Air Force had four players in double-figures. Sid Tomes led the team with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. Caleb Morris added 15 points and five rebounds.
Joining Tomes and Morris in double-figures were Ryan Swan and AJ Walker. Swan scored 14 points and six rebounds and Walker scored 13 points and dished out four assists. Keaton Van Soelen added two blocked shots off the bench.
Air Force and Fresno State battled to a 36-36 halftime tie. The Bulldogs dominated the glass in the second half with a 21-12 rebounding edge and after not attempting a free throw in the first half, went 15 of 16 from the line in the second.
Air Force shot 41 percent from the field and 38 percent from three. The Falcons were solid at the line, making 90 percent from the line, going 9 of 10.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Nevada. The game tips at 8 pm PT and will be broadcast by ESPN2.
