
Falcons Split Tri-Dual Against Conference Rivals

AF knocked off Colorado State, 177-123
USAFA, Colo. -- The Air Force Academy women's swimming and diving team split a tri-dual against Mountain West Conference rivals Friday evening, Dec. 4 at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons knocked off Colorado State, 177-123, while falling to Wyoming, 165-135.
"After a fall of just getting back in shape, our team really stepped up to race great and compete," Head Coach Colleen Murphy said. "We are so proud of what our team was able to accomplish this fall and their amazing positivity throughout this pandemic"
The Falcons won seven of the 16 events contested on the evening. Leading the way was sophomore Sefilina Maile, who won a pair of freestyle events, the 50 and 100.
Her time in the 50 (23.47) was the seventh fastest in program history, while her time in the 100 (50.64) was the fourth quickest in Academy history.
The other individual wins came via senior Kylie Stronko in the 100 back, sophomore Mason Brown in the 100 breast, junior Evelyn Johnson in the 200 breast, and junior Ally Armbruster in the 200 IM.
AF's other event win was in the first swim of the evening, the 200 medley relay. The squad of Stronko, Brown, senior Lexie DuChene, and Maile took gold with a time of 1:42.94.
The Falcons are now off from competition until the New Year when they will play host to a quad-meet against Colorado Mesa, Colorado Mines, and Northern Colorado, Friday, Jan. 8. Action inside the Cadet Natatorium begins at 5 p.m. MT.
