Women’s Tennis Downed By #7 Texas

Air Force women's tennis fell to #7 Texas 7-0 in a non-conference dual Thursday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center in Austin, Texas. The Falcons dropped to 4-3 on the season.
The Falcons went 1-2 in doubles, earning the win at No. 3. The duo of Alex Kuo and Courtney Swift defeated Gabby Cusano/Marta Perez Mur 6-2. At No. 1, #50 TJ Fumagalli and Nadeen Lieberman fell to Anna Turati/Bianca Turati 6-4. At No. 2, Meredith Jones and Kristin Kerrigan fell to Fernanda Labrana/Adri Nagy 6-1.
In singles, the Falcons faced three ranked opponents, dropping all six matches. Fumagalli fell at No. to #42 Bianca Turati 6-3, 6-0. At No. 2, Jones fell to #2 Anna Turati 6-4, 6-1. At No. 3, Lieberman fell to Nagy 6-1, 6-2.
At No. 4, Kerrigan fell to #125 Fernanda Labrana 6-1, 6-1. At No. 5, Sydney Fitch fell to Tijana Spasojevic 6-1, 6-3. At No. 6, Courtney Swift fell to Perez Mur 6-2, 6-4.
"We took away some good things from today's match," head coach Kim Gidley said. "This is the first time in program history Air Force played a top-10 program."
"In doubles, I was super excited for our No. 3 doubles team of Kuo/Swift for their win. This game a chance for our No. 1 doubles team of Fumagalli/Lieberman to clinch the doubles point. Unfortunately, they fell short 6-4, after failing to convert on a three-all game at 5-4. In singles, we competed very well in positions."
Air Force returns to action this weekend, Feb. 15-16, in Tallahassee, Fla., against Florida State and Florida A&M.
