Women’s Tennis Rolls To 6-1 Win Against Florida A&M

Air Force women's tennis defeated Florida A&M 6-1 in a non-conference dual Sunday morning that started at the FAMU's Rattler Tennis Complex and then finished at Florida State's indoor facility, both in Tallahassee, Fla. The win lifted the Falcons to 5-4 on the season.

Air Force won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches, which were played at the Rattler Tennis complex. At No. 1 singles, TJ Fumagalli and Nadeen Lieberman defeated Aylen Hubeaut and Karen Machisa 6-1. At No. 2, Kristin Kerrigan and Sydney Fitch defeated Ofure Osabuohien and Rachel Harden 6-2. At No. 3, Alex Kuo and Courtney Swift defeated Haleigh Porter and Arielle Nealy 6-3.

Due to soggy and wet conditions, the singles portion was played at FSU. The Falcons took five of six singles matches for the win. All five wins game in straight sets.

Fumagalli won at No. 1 singles in dominant fashion over Porter 6-0, 6-1. Jones took the lone loss of the day at No. 2 to Hubeaut 6-1, 6-2. Lieberman won at No. 3 over Harden 6-1, 6-1.

Kerrigan won at No. 4 over Nealy 6-4, 6-2. Fitch won at No. 5 over Machisa 6-1, 6-3 and Kuo won at No. 6 over Clayton 6-1, 6-2.

"It was good to finish with a win today on the road," head coach Kim Gidley said. "We've played some tough competition this past week and its been filled with a lot of travel. I was really pleased with Kristin in her singles and she battled. It's nice to see that the players have take aways from this weekend that can move them forward. I know the team is excited and ready to compete at home for our upcoming Pack the House dual on Feb. 28.

Air Force returns to action Feb. 28 with a doubleheader hosting CSU-Pueblo and Weber State.
