Women's Swimming & Diving Conclude Day One at MW Championships

The Falcons were led by an eighth place finish by Kayla Wofford in the consolation finals of the 1M
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Air Force Academy women's swimming and diving team concluded action on day one of the 2020 Mountain West Championships, Wednesday evening, Feb. 19, at the Freeman Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The Falcons competed in two relays and the 1-meter diving finals.
The two relays competed were the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay. The Falcons took 10th place in both events, while setting a season best time in the 800.
In the 800, the squad of senior Autumn Wolfgramm, sophomores Emily Bardak and Caroline Wittich, and freshman Sefilina Maile clocked in with a 7:33.70, which was over 10 seconds faster than their seed time.
Over in the diving well, the 1-meter was contested. Senior Kayla Wofford was the top finisher for the Falcons, taking 16th in the prelim rounds. In the consolation finals, Wofford finished in eighth. The next highest finisher was freshman Gabby Peltier, who placed 19th, while sophomore Cristin von Schlag took 23rd and freshman Anna Kemper placed 28th.
AF has 87 points as a team after the first three events to sit in 10th place.
The 2019 MW Championships continue tomorrow, Feb. 20, with five more events, including the 500 freestyle, the 200 IM, 50 free, 400 medley relay, and the 3-meter dive. Action from Minneapolis will begin at 10 a.m. MT.
