Trey Lervick led Air Force Lacrosse with two goals
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Air Force fell to No. 8/6 Virginia, 15-5, Sunday afternoon at Klöckner Stadium. The Falcons drop to 3-3 on the season while the Cavaliers improved to 4-1.
Air Force was led by senior goals leader Trey Lervick with a pair of goals, one assisted by sophomore attacker August Johnson. Lervick has 10 goals this season. Freshmen scoring leaders Ethan Grandolfo and Brandon Dodd notched a goal and an assist apiece. Dodd leads Air Force with 11 assists this season, he has dished out an assist in every game this year. Gianni Orlando netted the final goal for Air Force for his second of the season. Lervick and Grandolfo led the Falcons with four shots apiece, all of Grandolfo's were taken on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Braden Host made 12 saves and snagged up three ground balls in his sixth-straight start in cage for the Falcons. Air Force caused seven turnovers on the game led by senior defender Griffin Peene who led the Falcons with two to his credit. Sophomore standout defender Quentin Carlile picked up a game-high six ground balls and caused one turnover.
Senior faceoff man Ryan Lynch won eight times in 21 attempts taken at the dot. He picked up four ground balls on the game.
Next up, the Falcons return to Falcon Stadium for the first time in the 2020 campaign as they host the Canisius Golden Griffs, Sunday (Mar. 8), at noon MT. Air Force downed Canisius in last season's meeting in Buffalo, 13-7.
