The Falcons and Golden Griffs will faceoff at noon in Falcon Stadium opener

THE SERIES
Air Force and Canisius are meeting for the seventh time with the Falcons leading all-time series 5-1.
-The Falcons and Griffs have met on neutral turf five times (Pioneer Faceoff Classic - Denver, Colo.) with Air Force coming out on top in four-of-five of those contests
-The Falcons have won the last three meetings, putting up double-digit goals in each win
-The last time Canisius came to USAFA was in April of 1997, they lost 14-11
-Air Force downed the Griffs in last season's meeting in Buffalo, 13-7
-Canisius' only win against the Falcons was a 7-6 victory in 2014

HOST TABBED SOCON LAX ATHLETE OF THE MONTH
Junior goalie Braden Host was announced Southern Conference Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Month for games played in February, announced by the league office Wednesday (Mar. 4).
Host posted a 10.41 goals-against average in five February games, adding a league-leading .580 save percentage. The junior from Aurora, Colorado, opened the season with 17 saves in a win over No. 5 Duke that propelled the Falcons into the national rankings. The following week, he recorded a career-best 20 saves in a loss to No. 9 Denver. Host allowed just eight goals in a 9-8 win over Utah on Feb. 15 and just four in 48-plus minutes in an 11-5 win over St. Bonaventure.
LAST WEEKEND
Air Force fell to No. 8/6 Virginia, 15-5, Sunday afternoon (Mar. 1) at Klöckner Stadium. The Cavaliers improved to 4-1 with the win.
Air Force was led by senior goals leader Trey Lervick with a pair of goals, one assisted by sophomore attacker August Johnson. Lervick has 10 goals this season. Freshmen scoring leaders Ethan Grandolfo and Brandon Dodd notched a goal and an assist apiece. Dodd leads Air Force with 11 assists this season, he has dished out an assist in every game this year. Gianni Orlando netted the final goal for Air Force for his second of the season. Lervick and Grandolfo led the Falcons with four shots apiece, all of Grandolfo's were taken on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Braden Host made 12 saves and snagged up three ground balls in his sixth-straight start in cage for the Falcons. Air Force caused seven turnovers on the game led by senior defender Griffin Peene who led the Falcons with two to his credit. Sophomore standout defender Quentin Carlile picked up a game-high six ground balls and caused one turnover.
Senior faceoff man Ryan Lynch won eight times in 21 attempts taken at the dot. He picked up four ground balls on the game.
