Falcons Host Jackrabbits for Home Opener
The Air Force Academy baseball team returns to the friendly confines of Falcon Field for the 2020 home opening series, as the Falcons host South Dakota State for a three game series, Friday-Sunday, March 6-8. First pitches will be at 2, 1 and noon MT, respectively.

Series History vs. South Dakota State
- The Falcons and Jackrabbits have squared off 16 times on the diamond.
- AF leads the all-time tally, 10-6
- The two teams first met in the season opener of the 1959 season. AF won, 11-9
- The two teams last met in 2018, a two-game midweek series at Falcon Field
- Air Force is 9-3 against SDSU at home
Last Time Out
- The Falcons went 0-2 in midweek action against Wichita State, 15-4 and 2-0
- In both games, AF had plenty of opportunities, but could not cash in. In game one, AF had a tied for season-high 12 hits, and was only out-hit by one.
- In game two, AF out-hit Wichita, 8-2, but went 2-19 with men on base, and 0-8 with men in scoring position
Comeback Kids
- In both victories at the Armed Forces Invite, AF used late inning comebacks to claim victory. Against Army, Feb. 29, AF scored six runs in the final two innings to complete a two-run comeback and win 7-3.
- Then against Campbell, March 1, the Falcons scored all eight of its runs in the sixth through eighth innings to make a take a 5-1 deficit and turn it into an 8-5 victory.
Mr. 200
In the 7-3 win over Army, Feb. 29, Head Coach Mike Kazlausky won his 200th game as Air Force's skipper. He became just the second baseball coach to win 200 games at Air Force, joining all-time wins leader Joe Robison, who had 282 in 14 seasons.
Sweet as Shuger
Freshman Jason Shuger has been a go-to option early in his Falcon career. The righty has a 2.57 ERA over 14 innings, to go along with 16 strikeouts, which leads the team. In 5.2 innings of relief against No. 14 Duke, Shuger struck out 11 Blue Devils.
Easley's Eye on the Record Book
Senior OF Ashton Easley enters the 2020 season with the potential to have a serious impact on the AF record book. Already, he is tied for seventh in career triples with 12 and is fourth in career stolen bases with 56. If he maintains his career averages in numerous categories, he will also reach the upper echelons on the Falcon record book before season's end.
On the Horizon
Air Force gets back on the road for another two-game midweek series, this time at Utah Valley, Tuesday-Wednesday, March 10-11.
