Air Force Falls at Wyoming, 55-49

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Air Force let a close game slip away in the waning minutes, losing to Wyoming, 55-49, Saturday afternoon in Laramie. The Cowgirls improve to 3-7, 1-4 MW, ending a three-game losing streak while the Falcons drop to 3-7, 1-4 MW.
Junior point guard Briana Autrey-Thompson led the Falcons in scoring with a game-high 17 points on the day. She was the only player from Air Force to score in the double-figures. Autrey-Thompson once again displayed her utility on both sides of the ball as she led the Falcons with six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Sophomore forward Nikki McDonald contributed seven points and six defensive rebounds to the effort while senior guard Emily Conroe added five points and five rebounds. The Falcons out-rebounded the Cowgirls, 35-32.
Air Force, who led the game for 15 minutes, shot higher than their season field goal average in the first half but dropped to just 32-percent from the field in the second half, giving the Cowgirls a chance to create some distance in the score. Wyoming tallied their largest lead of the game via an 11-point scoring run with 2:47 remaining in regulation.
The Falcons' bench outscored the Cowgirl bench, 13-6, led by Conroe and Kaelin Immel's five points each. Today's game marked the first time both seniors missed a start together since joining the program in 2017.
Wyoming was led by three scorers in double-figures, highlighted by Tommi Olson's 11 rebounds, 10 points and eight assists. Dagny Davidsdottir led the squad in scoring with 16 points.
The Falcons and Cowgirls will conclude the two-game conference series at 6:30 p.m. MT, on Monday (Jan. 18), in Arena Auditorium.
