The Falcons had an event win and six top-three finishes
USAFA, Colo. – The Air Force Academy women's swimming and diving team dropped both ends of a tri-meet Saturday afternoon, Jan. 16, inside the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons fell to Mountain West rival Wyoming, 150-93, and BYU, 157-86.
"Our team is in a great place, we have been training hard and racing well," Head Coach Colleen Murphy said. "I am so proud of the way they stepped up this weekend even though we were missing a few people. Our senior class got their job assignments on Friday and had a great weekend of racing!"
The three teams competed in 13 events on the day. The Falcons had one event win to go along with six other top-three finishes. Sophomore Sefilina Maile had the event win, clocking in with a 51.38 in the 100 free.
In the 100 fly, sophomore Allana Clarke took silver with an altitude-adjusted time of 56.05. It is the eighth-fastest time in Academy history, and the fifth quickest in the MW this season.
The Falcons had three other runner-up finishes, by senior Kylie Stronko in the 100 back, sophomore Mason Brown in the 100 breast, and the relay squad in the 200 medley.
AF will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 23, for a dual with in-state and conference foe Colorado State. Action against the Rams is set to begin at noon. A senior day ceremony will take place before the start of the meet.
