Air Force Rolls To 38-10 Win At New Mexico

The Falcons scored on its first four possessions to jump ahead 24-0 at halftime and its two second-half touchdowns sealed the game. Air Force racked up 408 yards rushing on the night, while holding New Mexico to 226 yards of offense, including just 47 yards on the ground.
In a dominant first-half, Air Force out-gained New Mexico 223-to-46 in total yardage and held the ball for over 23 of the 30 minutes. The Falcon defense held New Mexico to one first down and forced two turnovers in the first half.
The Falcons scored on its first drive, as quarterback Haaziq Daniels capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive with a one-yard rushing touchdown.
Air Force scored 17 points in the second quarter. Sophomore Anthony Rodriguez connected for a 30-yard field goal to make it a 10-0 game after the Falcons got the ball on a fumble recovery on defense. The Falcons made it 17-0 on sophomore Dane Kinamon's three-yard run after recovering another Lobo fumble. Air Force capped the half with a 14-play, 84 yard drive finished off by a two-yard run by fullback Brad Roberts. The drive ate up 7:53 off the clock.
The Falcons went ahead 31-0 on a 53-yard run by sophomore DeAndre Hughes in the third quarter. After New Mexico got on the board with a touchdown, Roberts scored his second rushing TD in the fourth quarter. New Mexico added a field goal.
Roberts ran for a team-high 142 yards on a career-high 29 carries. He surpassed 1,000 career yards rushing in the game, becoming the 50th player in program to reach the milestone. Hughes had 89 yards on the ground and fullback Omar Fattah added 66, which were career-high's for both.
New Mexico quarterback Terry Wilson led the Lobos with 142 yards passing, completing 13 of 22 passes.
On defense junior linebacker Vince Sanford led the Falcons with six tackles and 3.5 sacks. Senior safety Corvan Taylor added six tackles and a fumble recovery. Senior defensive back James Jones IV had his first interception of the season.
Air Force retunrs to action next Saturday, Oct. 9, hosting Wyoming. The game kicks at 5 pm MT and will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
