COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - On Tuesday, the Mountain West Conference released its 2021 All-Conference honorees, with two Falcons having been recognized for their standout fall campaigns. After recording a career-high 13 points this fall, junior attacker Faith Lee was named First-Team All-Conference, while freshman defender Hannah Johnson was named a member of the All-Newcomer Team.
"Congratulations to both Faith and Hannah," said head coach Larry Friend. "My staff, the team, and I are very happy they received recognition from the other coaches in the Mountain West."
The 2021 season was a breakout one for Lee, who managed new career-highs in goals (5) and assists (3). Starting 17 of 18 matches, Lee was the Falcons most aggressive and successful attacker, leading her team in nearly every offensive category. Of her 39 shots, 18 were on goal (.462), including the game-winning strike in overtime against Boise State on October 17. Lee's 1,459 minutes in 2021 were also a new career best.
Johnson was heavily relied upon in Coach Friend's back line, also starting 17 of 18 matches but seeing time on the pitch in all available matches. Her 1,575 minutes led all Falcon outfield players. Johnson was responsible for assisting the first Falcons score of 2021, when she lobbed a free kick into the box on September 2 against Cal-Poly where she found Kayla Milford for a headed goal.
