Falcons Return Home to Host San Diego State, UNLV

Air Force will welcome the Aztecs (Nov. 11) and Rebels (Nov. 13) to Cadet East Gym this week.
The Air Force volleyball team kicks off its final homestand of the year thi with a pair of conference contests. The Falcons will host San Diego State on Veterans' Day (Nov. 11), before welcoming UNLV to the Cadet East Gym on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Both matches will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network, with Jason Carter joined by George Egan (Thursday) and Matt McShane (Saturday) on the broadcasts. Live stats will also be available via StatBroadcast (direct links are available on the Falcons' schedule page).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
San Diego State is currently 7-19 overall and holds a 4-10 mark in Mountain West action. The Aztecs split a pair of five-set road matches last week, defeating UNLV on Monday and falling to Fresno State on Saturday. San Diego State is ranked second in kills (13.04) and assists (11.98) during MW matches, while Victoria O'Sullivan is ranked among the conference's top three in kills (3.87) and points (4.32). UNLV, which will travel to New Mexico prior to arriving at the Academy, enters the week with a 17-8 record (8-6 in conference play). The Rebels also split last week, falling to San Diego State in five at home and defeating Fresno State on the road in four. UNLV leads the league in hitting during conference contests with a .284 average, while 2020 Player of the Year Mariena Hayden is the conference leader in kills (4.20), aces (0.69), and points (5.27).

Joi Harvey is ranked among the conference's Top 10 in both hitting (third, .388) and blocks (seventh, 1.07) during all matches, while holding the No. 5 placement in hitting (.391) during conference contests. The sophomore is one of two Falcons ranked among the Top 10 in blocks (all matches), as Mac Russ is ranked ninth with a 0.99 per-set average.
WELCOME BACK
Fans are invited back to Air Force Volleyball matches this fall, but current Defense Department and Air Force Academy rules require all individuals to wear a mask inside Academy facilities. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must wear masks outside on military installations.

Air Force closes out the 2021 campaign next week with a pair of conference contests. The Falcons will host New Mexico for Senior Night on Tuesday, Nov. 16, before traveling to Fresno State for the regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 18.
