Spencer matches career-best round on day two in Palm Desert

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Senior Kyle Spencer shot a three-under-par 69 on the second day of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. Spencer matched his career-best round by making five birdies on the day.

Air Force jumped up two spots in the team standings by passing Northern Colorado and Gonzaga for 17^th place in a tournament featuring several of the nation's top teams. Air Force shot a 296 in round two, 13 strokes better than the first round, for a 36-hole total of 605. The Falcons' 296 was the sixth-best round of any team in the 21-team field, and was better than Oregon, Charlotte, UCLA, Wyoming and Fresno State.

Another consistent day by the Falcon lineup saw Isaac Layne shoot a 74, followed by Luke Trujillo (75), Aaron Kuznik (78) and Colter Baca (79).

Georgia Tech leads the tournament with a 571 (-5). Oregon and Charlotte are tied for second (575, -1) while San Diego and Boise State are tied for fourth (576, E)
The final round of the tournament begins at 7 am PT on Sunday, Feb. 21 in Palm Desert, Calif.
