SCOUTING THE LOBOS
New Mexico, in the midst of a season-opening five-week road trip, is currently 2-4 on the year after dropping a pair of contests to San Diego State. The Lobos are ranked fifth in the conference in blocks, with a 2.14 per-set average. Individually, three Lobos – Kara Erfurth (third in assists, 9.43), Alena Moldan (eighth in digs, 3.67), Kaitlynn Biassou (eighth in kills, 3.24) – are ranked in the conference's top 10.
AIR FORCE IN THE CONFERENCE RANKINGS
The Falcons lead the Mountain West in serving, with a 2.11 aces-per-set average, while holding the No. 3 spot in both hitting (.217) and opponent hitting (.165). Individually, Joi Harvey is ranked sixth in hitting (.338) and ninth in blocks (1.06), while Abigail Collins and Gabby Wilson are listed fourth and fifth, respectively, in service aces, with matching 0.50 averages.
AIR FORCE AT .500
The Falcons improved to .500 on the season after sweeping Nevada on Feb. 20 – marking just the third time since joining the Mountain West that the Falcons have held a .500 record six matches into a conference season.
NOW SERVING ...
Abigail Collins had a strong day at the serving line on Feb. 20, as she recorded half of the Falcons' eight aces – including two that accounted for the final two points to the 26-24 win in the first set and another that served as the match-winning point in the third set.
KING REACHES MAJOR MILESTONE
Alex King became just the third Air Force player at the Division I level to tally 1000 digs in a career on Feb. 19, as she tallied the defining dig in the second-set of an eight-dig outing at Nevada. The senior joins former Falcons Rebecca Bates (2012-15) and Maiya Perich (2009-12) as the only DI Falcons to reach the four-digit dig total in a career.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force remains at the Academy next week, when it hosts Fresno State on March 5-6.
