
Air Force Falls at [2/1] Duke, 17-7

DURHAM, N.C. – Air Force came up short against the NCAA's top team, losing 17-7 at No. 2/1 Duke, Saturday afternoon, at Koskinen Stadium. The Blue Devils remain undefeated at 5-0 while the Falcons drop to 1-2.
Air Force was led by Matthew O'Rourk and Aidan Tolen who notched a hat trick apiece. Tolen was first to light scoreboard for Air Force via Quincy Peene's assist. Falcon attackman Ethan Grandolfo assisted O'Rourk in Air Force's second goal.
Duke created space on the Falcons in the second quarter, holding Air Force scoreless while tacking on five goals, leading the Falcons 10-2 at the halftime break.
Air Force broke the scoring drought at the 13:48 mark in the third quarter as Brenden Crouse fed O'Rourk for his second goal. Chase Douglas followed up with the back of the Duke net two minutes after via Grandolfo's second assist. Tolen rounded out the scoring for Air Force's third quarter at the 5:40 mark in an unassisted attack.
O'Rourk scored his hat trick goal 30 seconds into the fourth quarter and Tolen notched his first career hat trick with 4:09 remaining in regulation via Crouse's second assist. It was the last goal scored in the game.
Senior goalie Braden Host recorded 11 saves in a busy day at the office. Air Force face off man Brian Michael took the majority of attempts at the face off dot, winning 8-of-15 attempts.
Next up, Air Force travels to the 2019 NCAA Champions University of Virginia for a Saturday afternoon contest, March 6, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Action is slated for 12 p.m. ET in Klockner Stadium. The Falcons are 1-1 with the Cavaliers in the all-time series.
