Colorado State downs Air Force, 72-48

Tori Williams and Karly Murphy scored 12 points each to lead four in double figures as conference-leading Colorado State defeated Air Force, 72-48, Saturday afternoon in Mountain West action in Clune Arena at the Air Force Academy.
Colorado State (15-2, 11-2) used a 15-2 run over the final 6:32 to close the third quarter and take a 59-34 lead. The Rams held the Falcons without a field goal during the run. Colorado State went on to lead by as many as 28 points, 69-41, in the final minutes on its way its eighth straight win dating back to early January.
Colorado State out-scored Air Force, 36-6, in the paint and held a 43-33 rebounding advantage. The Rams shot 43.5 percent from the field, including a 36.4 clip from three, and hit all 10 free throws, while holding Air Force to just 28.1 percent shooting.
McKenna Hofschild scored 11 points and had a team-high five assists while Jamie Bonnarens added 10 points and Cali Clark and Lore Devos chipped in eight each.
Riley Snyder led Air Force with 11 points. Briana Autrey-Thompson added 10 and Dasha Macmillan scored nine. Kassady Huffman led the Falcons (6-15, 3-12) with six rebounds.
Colorado State used a 17-3 run midway through the first quarter to take control of the game early and lead by as many as 12 points, the last time coming at 19-7 with 38 seconds left. A 3-pointer by Autrey-Thompson closed the first stanza at 19-10. Colorado State scored 14 points in the paint and had a 13-7 rebounding advantage.
CSU extended the lead to 15 points, 25-10, with 7:53 left in the second quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers by Williams. The Falcons used the three-ball during a 12-4 run to pull to within seven, 29-22, with 4:08 remaining. Snyder, Kayla Pilson and Macmillan hit from long range while Kamri Heath added a conventional 3-point play to cap the spurt. The Rams out-scored Air Force, 8-2, to close the quarter and take a 37-24 halftime advantage.
