Falcons Open Outdoor Season at Jerry Quiller Classic

A small contingent of Falcons will compete in Boulder on March 19-20.
After a 651-day wait, the Air Force track and field team is heading outdoors for competition. A small contingent of Academy athletes will kick off the second half of the 2021 season this weekend (March 19-20), as they travel to Boulder for Colorado's annual Jerry Quiller Classic.
MEET INFORMATION
The Jerry Quiller Classic will be held at Potts Field on the University of Colorado's East Campus. Events are set to begin at 10:00 a.m. (MT) each day, with all field events being contested on Friday, March 19, and all running events taking place on Saturday, March 20. A complete schedule is listed below. The meet is not open to the public, but live results will be available at cubuffs.com/tracklive (a direct link is available on the Falcons' schedule page)
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
FRIDAY – 10:00 a.m.: Women's Hammer Throw, Men's Javelin Throw, Women's High Jump, and Men's Long Jump; 11:30 a.m.: Men's Hammer Throw, Women's Javelin Throw, Men's High Jump, Women's Long Jump, and Men's Pole Vault; 1:00 p.m.: Men's Shot Put, Women's Discus Throw, and Men's Triple Jump; 2:00 p.m.: Women's Pole Vault; 2:30 p.m.: Women's Shot Put, Men's Discus Throw, and Women's Triple Jump; SATURDAY – 10:00 a.m.: 1500-Meter Run, followed by 100-/110-Meter Hurdles, 400-Meter Dash, 100-Meter Dash, 800-Meter Run (men only), 400-Meter Hurdles, 200-Meter Dash, 4x400-Meter Relay (men only). Unless noted, women compete first in all running events.
LOOK WHO'S BACK: OUTDOOR EDITION
Although the 2020 outdoor season was cancelled, Air Force's current roster still includes four NCAA qualifiers (Zachary Dicken: 4x400-meter relay; Mitch Lipe: pole vault; Maria Mettler: 5000-meter run; Greg Skage: pole vault), one Mountain West Outdoor champion (Skage: pole vault), three outdoor all-conference selections (Dicken: 400-meter dash, Lipe: pole vault, Skage: pole vault) and one Air Force Outdoor Record Holder (Mettler: 10,000-meter run).
RULE CHANGE
On March 18, the NCAA Track and Field Committee announced that they will reduce the field size of the East and West preliminary round sites in 2021, moving from 48 per individual event to 32. Relays will remain at 24 teams per event.

The Falcons head to San Diego, Calif., next weekend (March 25-27) for the 42nd-annual Aztec Invitational.
