Ryan Brown (pole vault) and Addison Brown (high jump) claimed first-place finishes.
BOULDER, Colo. – Highlight by first-place finishes in both of the men's vertical jumps, a small number of the Air Force field event athletes kicked off the outdoor portion of the 2021 season this afternoon (March 19) at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder. The Falcons combined for nine total top-three finishes from the field – the only events contested today at Potts Field.
Junior Ryan Brown paced the men to a sweep of the top three finishes in the pole vault, as recorded a career-best clearance of 15'7" to win the seven-vaulter event. Classmate Ethan Gardner recorded the same clearance to finish second, while freshman Caiden Macktinger cleared 15'1" to take third in his outdoor debut. Senior Addison Brown completed the men's sweep, as he recorded a career-best clearance of 6'7" to win the high jump by nearly four inches.
Freshmen Brandon Lindner and John Colizzi accounted for top-three finishes in both horizontal jumps during their outdoor debuts. Lindner was the top collegiate finisher – second overall – in the long jump with a distance of 20'8½", while Colizzi earned the same placement – collegiately and overall – in the triple jump with a mark of 45'9". In addition to their respective runner-up finishes, the pair also earned third-place marks in the other event, as Colizzi took third in the long jump (20'5¼") and Lindner earned that spot in the triple jump (43'3¾").
Fellow freshman Gerrit Tamminga also claimed a top-three finish on Friday, as he recorded a debut distance of 149'5" to finish second in the discus throw.
Another small contingent of Falcons head to Potts Field tomorrow (March 20) for the running events of the Jerry Quiller Classic.
