Falcons Fall to Utah State On the Road

AF out-shot the Aggies by an 18-17 margin
LOGAN, Utah – The Air Force Academy women's soccer team dropped a road contest to Utah State, 5-0, Friday afternoon, March 19, at the RSL Soccer Complex.
The Falcons had some opportunities to get on the board all game, out-shooting the Aggies by an 18-17 margin, as well as a 10-9 advantage with shots on net. Senior Alex Giggie led the way with four shots, three on net, while seven other Falcons each tallied an opportunity on goal.
The Falcons and Aggies were held scoreless through the first 20 minutes before USU scored in the 21st. They added tallies in the 39th and 42nd minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the half.
AF began the second half with some prime opportunities to cut into the deficit, including getting a penalty shot in the 53rd minute, but it was saved by the Utah State keeper to maintain the 3-0 score. The Aggies countered with a goal in the 69th minute, followed by the final tally in the 82nd minute to conclude the match at 5-0.
The Falcons will be back in action on Sunday, March 21, for a match with the Mountain Division leaders New Mexico. Kickoff against the Lobos in Albuquerque is set for 1 p.m. MT.
