The Falcons tallied six shots on the day
The Falcons totaled six shots on the day, including two on frame, to go along with four corner kick opportunities. Freshman Cassi Bych led the Falcons with both opportunities on net, while sophomore Faith Lee also tallied a pair of shots.
AF did not get much offensive momentum in the first half, being out-shot by an 11-4 margin. The Falcons held UNM to just a few shots on net in the first 40 minutes, before they broke through with a goal off a corner in the 40th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the half.
The first handful of minutes of the second half was controlled by the defense until UNM got a break in the 54th minute, resulting in their second goal of the contest, and making it 2-0 early in the second half.
They added another tally in the 58th minute to take the commanding 3-0 advantage. The Falcons meanwhile didn't get their first try on net until the 76th minute, but the UNM back line held strong.
AF kept the pressure up in the late minutes, getting a pair of corner kicks in the 79th minute, but it did not result in any attempts. The Lobos then added their fourth goal in a breakaway in the 85th minute to complete the 4-0 final.
The Falcons will be back on the pitch next weekend with a pair more road contests. AF will take on Colorado State in Ft. Collins, Friday, March 26, followed by a Sunday match against the Cowgirls in Laramie, March 28.
