Last Week In Review
Last weekend, AF went 1-2 in a road series at MW leader San Diego State. The Falcons won the finale on Sunday, March 21, by a 13-9 tally. It was the first MW win of the season for the Falcons. Freshman Paul Skenes was the hero in the win, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, HR, four RBI, and three runs scored. On the mound, he earned the win after tossing the final three frames, allowing no earned runs while striking out two.
The Do It All Kid
Freshman Paul Skenes has been extremely versatile for the Falcons this season, as he has made starts at catcher (7), first base (2), and DH (6). He has also made his five pitching appearances in games in which he started in the batting lineup, notching a win and two saves, which leads the MW.
Going Streaking
Senior Cole Blatchford owns a 10-game hitting streak entering the weekend. The pre-season All-MW Conference selection is having a stellar start to his final campaign in the Blue and Silver, as he leads the team with a .327 batting average, 17 hits, and 12 RBIs, while ranking second on the team in slugging and runs scored.
On the Horizon
The Falcons will get back on the road as they take on the Nevada Wolfpack, Friday-Saturday, April 2-3 in Reno.
