Air Force Downs Bellarmine in Conference Opener, 8-6

LOUISVILLE - A commanding fourth quarter lifted Air Force to an 8-6 win over Bellarmine in the Falcons' Southern Conference opener, Saturday afternoon at Frazier Stadium. The Falcons are back in the win column, improving to 2-5, while Bellarmine drops to 2-8 with a 0-2 mark in the league.

Air Force junior August Johnson scored a game-high and career-best four goals on eight shots. Senior teammate and co-team captain Quincy Peene took six shots on the day, one of which converted to a goal.
Teammates Ethan Grandolfo and Brandon Dodd also took six shots apiece. Grandolfo notched a goal and two assists, continuing a 12-game point-streak dating back to February of 2020.
Freshman midfielder Gavin Peene tallied his first collegiate goal in the fourth quarter via an assist from his older brother, Quincy.
Brenden Crouse finished with a goal on four shots, scoring Air Force's first goal to halt a 3-0 Bellarmine scoring run. Junior teammate Chase Douglas tallied an assist in the offensive effort.
Sophomore face off man Dylan Frankhouser had a stellar day at the center dot, winning a career best 8-of-9 face off attempts while picking up four ground balls.
Senior goalie Braden Host was fit for duty, making 16 saves on 22 Bellarmine shots on goal. The Falcons out-shot the Knights, 34-30. The Knights proved they could move the ball around, tallying six goals from six different scorers.
Next up, Air Force returns to the Academy to continue Southern Conference action against the Mercer Bears, Saturday, April 3. Face-off is slated for noon MT. The Falcons are 8-1 in the all-time series against Mercer, and 3-1 when playing at USAFA.
