Last Week In Review
Last weekend, AF swept a three-game series over UNLV at home inside Falcon Field. The Blue and Silver won games by scores of 4-3, 11-7, and a walk off in the series finale, 11-10.
Comeback Kids
In the 11-10 walk-off win over UNLV in the series finale, AF scored six runs in the ninth inning to complete a five-run comeback. It was the first sweep over the Rebels for Air Force since 2014.
Winning the Tight Ones
With two more one-run wins in the series sweep over UNLV, AF moved to 4-0 on the season in one-run games. This includes two walk-off wins to win by one run.
Pair of Winning Streaks
After the sweep of UNLV, AF won its fourth-straight game. It is the second four-plus game winning streak for the Falcons this season, after winning five-straight from March 5-13.
Home Sweet Home
The Falcons are used to seeing the bats come alive at Falcon Field, and last weekend was no different. AF tallied 40 hits over the three games, including 18 for extra bases. In the process, AF raised its team batting average from a .257 to a .275.
Four of the extra base hits were home runs, all coming in the series finale walk off. The four HRs were the most in a single game for the Falcons since hitting five against Nevada at Falcon Field, April 28, 2019.
The Do It All Kid
Freshman Paul Skenes has been extremely versatile for the Falcons this season, as he has made starts at catcher (7), first base (2), and DH (9). He has also made his six pitching appearances in games in which he started in the batting lineup, notching a win and three saves, which leads the MW.
Going Streaking
Senior Cole Blatchford owns a 13-game hitting streak entering the weekend. The pre-season All-MW Conference selection is having a stellar start to his final campaign in the Blue and Silver, as he leads the team with a .354 batting average, 23 hits, and 14 RBIs.
On the Horizon
The Falcons will remain on the road as they head to California to face Fresno State for a three-game set. Action against the Bulldogs will come Saturday-Sunday, April 10-11.
