4/16/2021 12:50:00 PM | Track and Field
The Falcons will compete in Arizona (sprints, jumps) and Oregon (distance, throws) on April 17.
The Air Force track and field team returns to action this Saturday (April 17), as it faces off against six PAC-12 schools at the inaugural West Coast Classic – a one-day meet divided between Arizona (Tucson) and Oregon (Eugene).
MEET INFORMATION
The West Coast Classic, split between the University of Arizona (sprints and jumps at Drachman Stadium, beginning at 3:00 p.m. MST) and the University of Oregon (distance and throws at Hayward Field, beginning at 12:30 p.m. PT), will take place on Saturday, April 17. Air Force will join six PAC-12 schools – Arizona (No. 13 men, No. 18 women), Arizona State (No. 22 men, No. 20 men), California, Oregon (No. 6 men, No. 21 women), Stanford and UCLA – in the scored invitational. A limited number of spectators, restricted to guests of the competitors, will be allowed to attend at each location. Live results for the Arizona-based events will be available through Finished Results, while results for the Oregon-hosted portion of the meet will be available via Athletic Timing. Direct links to both can be found on the Falcons' schedule page.
AIR FORCE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Two Falcons are ranked among the NCAA Top 25, as Mitch Lipe is ranked 18th in the pole vault (17'8½") and Wyatt Murphy is listed 23rd in the decathlon (6810). Two others – Mahala Norris (3:46.89, 1500-meter run) and Braeden Holcombe (6593, decathlon) – are listed in the Top 40, as they hold No. 34 placements in their respective events.
COMING UP
Air Force will split for a pair of meets next week, as part of the squad travels to Des Moines, Iowa, for the 111th edition of the Drake Relays on April 22-24, while the rest of the squad remains in Colorado to compete at the Jack Christiansen Invitational in Fort Collins on April 24.
