Falcons handle Florida Atlantic, 31-7

Falcon QB Haaziq Daniels orchestrated a nearly flawless offensive attack, as he carried the football 17 times for a career-best 164 yards, including a first-quarter 94-yard touchdown run, a new Academy record. Daniels was also 2-for-4 for 70 yards through the air.
Along with Daniels, five other Falcons recorded at least five carries, including Brad Roberts (13), Micah Davis (12), Omar Fattah (11), Emmanuel Michel (8) and Dane Kinamon (5). In total, Air Force finished with a season-high 446 yards on the ground.
Conversely, the Falcon defense gave the Owls little freedom to operate, as the Air Force defense allowed only 219 total yards. Alec Mock led the Falcons with seven tackles, while Trey Taylor filled up the stat sheet. Taylor managed four tackles, three pass breakups, one sack, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble.
The theme of the first-half was a dominant Falcon offense, with the home team scoring on all five first-half possessions. After the Air Force defense forced an initial three-and-out on the FAU opening drive, the Falcons drove 68 yards in six plays, with Daniels taking the option keeper for a four-yard rushing touchdown.
Air Force's second possession began on their own six-yard line, though the Falcon offense needed only one play to turn the tide. Daniels, again calling his own number, carried the ball to the left, cut up field, and ran 94 yards to the end zone to set a new school record for longest rushing score. The previous record was held by Joel Carlson, who ran for an 88-yard touchdown in 1971 against Army.
The Falcons added another touchdown in the second quarter, a 24-yard Brad Roberts rushing score to punctuate a 14-play, 82-yard drive that chewed up more than seven minutes of clock over the first two quarters. Anthony Gonzalez connected on his first career field goal with 5:10 remaining in the first-half, a 31-yarder to put the Falcons up 24-0.
Air Force took the aforementioned score into the halftime break, as the home team recorded 360 total yards over the first 30 minutes of play.
John Rudzinski's defense never allowed the Owls to get back into the football game, with his group shutting out the opposition in the second-half while surrendering only 101 yards. The only score in the game's final half was a Micah Davis six-yard rushing touchdown, capping a drive that spanned 97 yards on 12 plays.
Air Force (3-1, 0-1) will travel to Albuquerque to continue its Mountain West schedule against New Mexico on Oct. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 pm MT.
