Quarterback Haaziq Daniels accounted for 113 yards on the ground and two touchdowns on just nine carries, adding a 33-yard touchdown pass to David Cormier in the 3rd quarter. Fullback Brad Roberts averaged nearly six yards per tote en route to 163 yards as the result of 29 carries. The senior now sits fourth all-time in rushing yards in program history, with Saturday also marking Roberts' 17th career 100+ yard rushing performance.
On the ground, the Falcons combined for 431 rushing yards.
The Air Force defense smothered New Mexico, surrendering just 172 yards of total offense while holding the Lobos to 1.8 yards per carry. The Falcons managed seven tackles for loss and five sacks, as Vince Sanford, Alec Mock, Jayden Thiergood, Camby Goff, Christopher Herrera, and Payton Zdroik were each responsible for contributing to the Air Force pass rush.
Jayden Goodwin led all Falcons with six total tackles.
Air Force opened the game forcing a Lobos three-and-out, allowing the offense to quickly find the scoreboard. On the third play from scrimmage, Daniels found a lane on the right side and scampered 65 yards to the endzone to give Air Force a 7-0 lead.
The Falcons defense forced another three-and-out on the following possession, affording the offensive attack to manufacture a vintage Air Force drive. John Lee Eldridge III punctuated a 15-play, 84-yard drive with a 10-yard rushing score to extend the Air Force lead to 14-0.
A scoreless second quarter saw the Falcons two-touchdown lead carry into the halftime break.
After receiving the opening kick of the second half, the Falcons regained their offensive groove. On the 10th play of the drive, Daniels play-action allowed Cormier to find space in the middle of the field on a post route as the pair connected on a 33-yard touchdown. Air Force ballooned its lead to 21-0.
An Air Force turnover paved the way for a Lobos field goal midway through the 3rd quarter, though Daniels again created a long rushing score. The Air Force quarterback took off from 37-yards out with 30 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter for his second rushing touchdown of the afternoon. The Falcons entered the final quarter up 28-3.
Jensen Jones entered at quarterback in the middle of the 4th quarter and put a stamp on Air Force's impressive day, scoring from nine yards out with 2:26 left on the clock.
Next, Air Force hosts Colorado State on Saturday, November 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm MT.
