Air Force Falls To Portland, 64-51

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force men's basketball (1-3) dropped a 64-51 contest to Portland (4-1) Thursday night at Clune Arena. Sophomore guard Ethan Taylor led the Falcons with 14 points.
Air Force played evenly with Portland in the first half, with 12 lead changes. The Falcons led by as many as five points but the Pilots closed the half on an 8-0 run to take a 32-29 lead at the half.
Portland led for much of the second half and slowly pulled away late, as Air Force struggled to find buckets. Air Force led by two with 15:01 to play in the second, but a 12-3 run allowed the Pilots to take a seven-point lead at 48-41 with 11:36 to play. The Falcons could not get its offense going, as Portland extended its lead to double-figures.
Guard Tyler Robertson led Portland with 15 points. Forward Moses Wood added 12 points and three rebounds.
Taylor went 5 of 9 from the field and made three three's. The sophomore added five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Joining Taylor in double figures was sophomore guard Jeffrey Mills, who scored 12 points. Mills hit a pair of three's and made a career-high six free throws.
Sophomore guard Jake Heidbreder added eight points and six rebounds. Senior forward Nikc Jackson led the bench with six points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Air Force had its best night at the free throw line, making 81.3 percent (13-16).
Air Force returns to action Monday, Nov. 21, hosting USC-Upstate as part of the Collegiate Roadshow Multi-Team Event. The game tips at 7 pm MT and will be broadcast on Altitude and online via the Mountain West Network.
