Air Force Earns CIC Trophy With 13-7 Win Over Army

The senior trio of running back Brad Roberts, quarterback Haaziq Daniels and wide receiver David Cormier combined for 313 of the team's 324 yards of offense. Meanwhile the Air Force defense held Army to 145 yards of offense, including just 78 yards on the ground to claim its first CIC title since 2016.
Roberts rumbled for 135 yards rushing on 33 carries to record his seventh 100-yard game of the season, which ties for second-most in a season in program history. Daniels rushed for 89 yards and the go-ahead touchdown, while throwing for 98 yards. Cormier hauled in a career-high four receptions for 89 yards.
Air Force got on the scoreboard first with 35-yard field goal by Matthew Dapore at the end of the first quarter. Army responded with a touchdown midway through the second quarter on a three yard run by quarterback Jemel Jones to go ahead 7-3.
Air Force made the right adjustments at halftime, out-scoring the Black Knights 10-0 in the latter half.
After forcing Army into a three-and-out to start the third quarter, the Falcons went right down the field and scored a touchdown, capped by a 17-yard run by Daniels. Dapore then hit on a 26-yard field goal in the fourth quarter with extend the lead to 13-7.
The Air Force defense held Army to just 18 yards of offense in the second-half, including just 16 yards rushing. Junior Michael Mack II and senior linebacker TD Blackmon had six tackles each to lead the Falcons. Junior DB Trey Taylor had five tackles to go with a sack and pass breakup. Junior DB Camby Goff capped the game with his third interception of the season.
With the win, Air Force claims bowl eligibility for the 13th time in 16 seasons under head coach Troy Calhoun. The Falcons snapped a two-game losing skid to Army and improved to 38-18-1 in the series.
Air Force returns to action next Saturday, Nov. 12, hosting New Mexico. Kickoff is 1:30 pm MT and the game will be broadcast on CBSSN.
