Air Force Men's Basketball is the recipient of a $200,000 donation, the largest one-time gift in program history. Robert "Butch" Hawking ('92), a former team captain and point guard for the Falcons, has made a significant contribution to invest in the future of the basketball program.
"We are truly grateful for Butch's generosity, and his commitment to helping us reach the level of success that we all want for Air Force basketball. This gift is an opportunity to provide our cadet-athletes and staff with the resources to take a true step forward in our progress as a program," said Head Coach Joe Scott.
The intent of the gift is to fund a future foreign trip, team travel and strategic initiatives to further the development of the men's basketball program.
"Now is the time to make an impact and provide what is needed for Coach Scott, his staff and Air Force Academy Basketball. I am proud and thankful to be able to give back to our historic program and assist in building a winner, well into the future! My hope is that this gift inspires all former Falcons to step-up and provide for our cadet-athletes and coaches, to help our program's growth," Hawking said.
Air Force Men's Basketball will finish the regular season tonight in Clune Arena against San Jose State, with the Mountain West Conference tournament slated for March 9-12 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV.
The Falcon Athletic Fund is the fundraising arm of Air Force Athletics and is responsible for generating the philanthropic resources required to provide a first-class transformational experience for 1,000 cadet-athletes across 27 sports.
