Garrett Braunton Places Third on NCAA High Bar

Braunton earned All-America honors following the second-highest NCAA finish in Academy history.
NORMAN, Okla. – Air Force sophomore Garrett Braunton captured All-America honors on the high bar this evening (April 16) following a third-place performance at the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships. Braunton, one of three Falcons to compete in the national finals, scored a career-best 14.266 to equal the second-highest NCAA finish ever for an Academy gymnast.

A native of Olympia, Wash., Braunton became just the second Air Force All-American on the high bar – joining former Falcon Lukas Texeira, who claimed the same placement at the at the 2019 championship meet. The sophomore is the 13th All-American in Air Force history and marked the fourth time in eight championship meets that the Falcons have placed a gymnast in the top five of an event.
Overall, Braunton finished 10th in the all-around with a score of 80.232. His second-best finish of the night came on the still rings, where he used a 13.800 to place 13th. He also claimed a top-25 score of 13.700 on the floor exercise (25th), while rounding out his all-around total with a 13.900 on the vault (31st), a 12.300 on the parallel bars (38th) and a 12.266 on the pommel horse (12.266).
Two other members of the Falcons' gymnastics squad also competed in the national finals this evening, as sophomore Oliver Zavel and senior Noah Everett finished 34th (12.800) and 37th (12.533), respectively, on the parallel bars and Everett added a 44th-place finish on the pommel horse.
