Falcons blanked in loss to Bison

USAFA, Colo.- Following a two-hour lightning delay, the Falcons were unable to replicate the offensive attack it produced just two nights ago, as Air Force was defeated 1-0 by the visiting Bucknell Bison.
A Bison free-kick resulted in a score in the 49th minute when Bucknell's Paige Temple found the back of the net from just outside the penalty area.
"I thought we played with grit and determination, however, I'm disappointed with today's result," said head coach Laura Busby. "We didn't show enough composure in the final third to create quality scoring chances. The good news is we don't play for two weeks, and we have plenty of time to work on it."
The Falcons created nine shots, including seven over the final 45 minutes. Four of Air Force's nine shots were on goal.
Freshman Caeli Sherman continues to see valuable minutes early on in her collegiate career, leading the Falcons with three attempts at goal. Jordi Ives, Grace Sublette, Raine Komata and Faith Lee each managed a shot as well.
It was a physical affair from both sides, as the two teams combined for 28 fouls and six bookings.
Despite the result, it feels like we are moving in the right direction and I'm excited to see what this team can accomplish this season," said Busby.
Next, Air Force has a 13-day layoff before taking on Northern Arizona in Flagstaff on September 11. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm MT.
