Falcons Travel to MW-Leader Utah State, Boise State

The Air Force volleyball team heads back out on the road this week for a pair of conference contests. The Falcons open the trip at league-leading Utah State on Thursday, Nov. 2, before traveling to Boise State on Saturday, Nov. 4.
MATCH INFORMATION
Thursday's match at Utah State will begin at 7:00 p.m. (MT) inside the Wayne Estes Center, while Saturday's contest against Boise State is slated for a noon start at Bronco Gym. Both matches will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network. SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Utah State, receiving votes in the this week's AVCA poll, is 18-5 on the year and 11-1 in conference play – with their only MW loss coming at the hands of the Falcons in late September. The Aggies, who defeated Colorado State (3-2) and Wyoming (3-1) on the road last week, currently lead the league in service aces (1.86 saps) and hold No. 2 rankings in hitting (.249) and assists (12.51). Individually, Shelby Capllonch is ranked second in league aces with 0.45 average.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Boise State, which will host New Mexico on Thursday, is 11-11 on the year and 8-2 in the conference following a pair of 0-3 road losses to Wyoming and Colorado State last week. As a team, the Broncos are ranked second in digs (14.78) and aces (1.84), while Paige Bartsch leads the league individually in kills (4.71), service aces (0.49) and points (5.52). Boise State holds two of the top-three servers in the MW, as Breanna Mitchell is third with a 0.44 average.

Utah State holds a 12-7 all-time advantage over Air Force, although the Falcons have been responsible for the Aggies' last two Mountain West losses – a four-set defeat to end the 2022 season and a five-set loss during their first meeting earlier this year. Air Force has won twice in Logan, with victories in 2015 and during the delayed 2020 campaign). Boise State, who downed the Falcons in five sets earlier this season at the Academy, leads the all-time series 18-6 – and has never lost to the Falcons at Bronco Gym.

Joi Harvey leads the Mountain West in hitting during conference matches, holding a .433 average that is more than 10 points higher than the rest of the league, while also maintaining top-10 rankings in points (3.94, fourth) and kills (3.27, seventh). Air Force, which is ranked fourth in team hitting (.239), boasts two of the three more accurate attackers in the league, with Mac Russ ranked third with a .373 average.
