
Falcons fall at Hawaii, 27-13

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Hawaii took an early lead and held off AirForce for a 27-13 win in a Mountain West game Saturday, Nov. 11, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Hawaii (4-7, 1-4 MW) opened the scoring as Brayden Schager hit Pofele Ashlock with a five-yard touchdown pass at 7:58 of the first quarter. The score ended a 12-play, 75-yard, 7:02 drive and gave the Rainbow Warriors a 7-0 lead. Air Force got on the board after a 20-play, 61-yard drive that consumed 11:49 off the clock with a Matthew Dapore 25-yard field goal. The drive was the longest by the Falcons in plays and time of possession.
Hawaii responded with a 9-play, 75-yard drive in the final three minutes of the first half as Schager scored on a one-yard run with two seconds left on the clock.
Air Force (8-2, 5-1 MW) scored on its opening drive of the second half and fullback Dylan Carson went 35 yards for his first career touchdown. Carson's TD cut the Hawaii lead to 13-10. Hawaii responded with an 11-play, 75-yard drive as Ashlock and Schager hooked up again and the Rainbow Warriors took a 20-10 lead.
Early in the fourth quarter, Hawaii built a 27-10 lead as Meki Pei returned a fumble 32 yards for a touchdown. Dapore hit a 21-yard field goal with 6:20 remaining in the fourth to make up the final margin.
Air Force returns home to host UNLV, Saturday, Nov. 18, at 1:30 pm MT at Falcon Stadium.
