Air Force Unable To Complete Rally In Setback At Boise State

Air Force struggled to get its offense going early, as Boise State jumped out to an early 10-0 lead. The Broncos got the scoreboard first with a 38-yard field goal by Jonah Dalmas, followed by a 12-yard touchdown run by quarterback Taylen Green.
The Falcons got on the board at the 5:22 mark in the second quarter, as Matthew Dapore hit a field goal from 50 yards out.
Boise State then scored on their next play on offense, as running back Ashton Jeanty took a screen pass from Green and scampered 75 yards for a touchdown.
The Falcons got another field goal from Dapore, this one from 45 yards, as time expired in the second half to make it a 17-6 game at the half.
Air Force opened the third quarter with a touchdown drive. The Falcons went 75 yards in just five plays, as backup quarterback John Busha punched it in from a yard out to make it 17-12 after the failed two-point conversion. Highlighting the drive was a 68-yard run by fullback Dylan Carson. Carson finished with a game-high 132 yards rushing for the Falcons, going over 100 yards rushing for the second straight game.
Boise State then struck with another big play by Jeanty, who ran 50 yards for a touchdown to make it a 24-12 game in the third quarter. Jeanty accounted to 225 total yards of offense for the Broncos, rushing for 107 yards on 14 carries and accounting for 118 receiving yards on five catches.
The Falcon defense then up came with an interception, its second of the game, and capitalized with points to pull to within a score. Jayden Goodwin picked off Green in the third quarter to get the ball back for Air Force. The Falcons turned it into a touchdown with a seven-play, 60-yard drive, capped with a two yard touchdown run by Carson, to make it 24-19 Boise.
The Broncos tacked on a field goal with 4:31 to play in the fourth, as Dalmas connected from 52-yards to make it a 27-19 Boise State lead.
The Falcons had a chance to tie, but they were only able to reach Boise State's 34-yard line before surrendering the ball on downs with 1:30 to play. Boise State was able to take time off the clock and punted to the Falcons with 26 seconds left. The Broncos then intercepted Busha with 13 seconds left to cap the game.
Air Force had 337 yards of offense, rushing for 206 yards. Busha threw for 131 yards, completing 8-of-17 passes. Ben Brittain made his first-career start at quarterback for the Falcons. Brittain threw one pass attempt and carried six times for 24 yards. Brandon Engel had four receptions for 57 yards for the Falcons.
Jonathan Youngblood led Air Force with 11 tackles. Jalen Mergerson also had Air Force's first interception. Caden Blum also had a sack.
Air Force caps the regular season. Its next game will be a bowl game to be determined.
