Women Impact Academy Distance Standings in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. – Members of the Air Force women's distance squad made three improvements to the program's all-time standings this evening (Feb. 10), as five Falcons took to the oval at the Boston Track and Tennis Center for the opening day of action at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
AIR FORCE TOP 10 MARKSNo. 5 – Rachel Crytser, 3000-Meter Run (9:25.04)
No. 6 – India Jones, 5000-Meter Run (16:32.76)
Junior Rachel Crytser debuted at No. 5 on the program's all-time standings of the 3000-meter run, as she raced to a career-best time of 9:25.04. Competing in the first 3000-meter race since her freshman year, the junior finished seventh in her heat and 53rd in a field that included 299 runners. Crytser was one of two Falcons to impact the program's Top 25 in that distance, as sophomore Ally Peterson posted a career-best time of 9:40.53 to move up 11 spots to No. 11 on the Academy's all-time standings. Winning her heat by nearly three seconds, Peterson finished within the top 90 (88th) of the event.
Freshman India Jones closed out the night in Boston by running the sixth-fastest 5000-meter time in Academy history during her first race at that distance. Competing in a heat that began around 10:30 p.m., local time, Jones raced to an impressive 16:32.76 victory – bettering the other 25 competitors in her heat by nearly 19 seconds.
Ten members of the men's distance roster head to the track tomorrow (Feb. 11) for the final day of competition at the David Hemery Valentin Invitational. The Falcons kick off the evening with the mile at 4:35 p.m. (ET).
