Air Force Falls At Nevada

RENO, Nevada – Air Force men's basketball (12-12, 3-8 MW) dropped a 72-52 contest at Nevada (18-6, 8-3 MW) in Mountain West action Friday night. Sophomore guard Jake Heidbreder led the Falcons with 18 points.
Air Force rallied back several times in the second half and had several chances to take the lead. Trailing by one with 9:20 to play, Nevada took control of the game with a 15-0 run to pull away.
Jared Lucas scored 19 points and Will Baker added 17 points to lead the Wolf Pack. Nevada forced Air Force into 27 fouls, which led to a 32-12 advantage in free throws attempted.
The first half saw the Falcons fall behind by double-digits before closing strong to get the game to a three-point game. Air Force led early, before an 18-5 Nevada run. The Wolf Pack went up 28-17 with 3:30 to go in the first half. The Falcons closed out the half with a 7-0 run to trail 31-28.
Heidbreder went 7 for 13 from the field and 3 for 8 from three to lead the Falcons. Beau Becker added 13 points, highlighted by three three's. Becker also led the Falcons with six rebounds.
Marcell McCreary was the top scorer off the bench with six points, adding three rebounds. Heidbreder and Jeffrey Mills led the Falcons with three assists each.
Air Force shot 42 percent from the field. The Falcons made nine three's on the night.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 7, hosting Colorado State. Tip time is 7 pm MT and the game will be televised by Altitude2 (joined in progress after Denver Nuggets game) and will be streamed in its entirety on the Mountain West Network.
