Air Force overwhelmed by #24 Texas Tech to end midweek series

LUBBOCK, Texas- Air Force saw #24 Texas Tech score in seven of their eight turns at the plate, while piling on 19 hits, as the Falcons were drubbed 18-5 on Wednesday.

Sam Kulasingam and Trayden Tamiya each had a pair of base-hits, with the latter driving in the Falcons first run of the game with a RBI single. Kulasingam is now 17-34 to start the year (.500), while Tamiya ends his series in Lubbock with four hits in seven at-bats.

Jay Thomason connected on his fourth home run of the year to now lead the dugout. The junior launched an opposite-field, two-run home run in the 4th.

Charlie Jones was 1-2 with a double, the only other Falcon to produce an extra-base hit. Jones' double was the first extra-base hit of his brief Air Force career.

Matt Thompson has taken to his role in the leadoff spot, as the senior was responsible for a RBI single in the 6th. Thompson was 4-10 with 3 RBI in the two-game series, having begun the 2023 season 8-22 (.364) at the plate.

T.J. Oster's infield single in the 8th represents his first-ever collegiate base-hit.

It was a tough day at the office for the Air Force pitching staff, as seven Air Force hurlers combined to allow 18 runs on 19 hits to go with 10 walks, three hit-by-pitches, and three wild pitches. Freshmen Joey Collier and Cooper Loveridge made their collegiate debuts in the process, with both pitchers collecting their first-career strikeouts.

Next, the Falcons will travel to Charleston, South Carolina to begin a four-game roadtrip against three different schools. First, Air Force will take on Charleston Southern on Friday, March 3 with first-pitch scheduled for 3:00 pm MT.
