Falcons Split for a Pair of Weekend Meets

The outdoor season continues for the Air Force track and field team this weekend (March 24-25), as the squad splits for a pair of competitions. A majority of the team returns to Pueblo for the Spank Blasing Invitational, while a small contingent of field event athletes will travel to San Diego for the Aztec Invitational.
MEET INFORMATION
The 44th-annual Aztec Invitational will be held primarily at The AzTrack Sports Deck on the San Diego State campus, although the hammer throw will take place at UC San Diego. Saturday's action will be streamed through the RunnerSpace +Plus subscription service, while live results will be available via FinishResults.com (direct links to both are available on the Falcons' schedule page). Admission is $10 (cash only) each day for all spectators ages 13 and above.
WHO'S WHO
Air Force was one of 34 collegiate teams to be invited to the annual Aztec Invitational this year. The lineup includes several Power 5 teams, as well as Mountain West squads from Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, San Jose State, San Diego State, and UNLV.

FRIDAY – 4:30 p.m.: Men's Hammer Throw; SATURDAY – 9:00 a.m.: Women's Javelin Throw, followed by Men's Javelin Throw; 10:00 a.m.: Men's Pole Vault, followed by Women's Pole Vault; 10:00 a.m.: Women's High Jump, followed by Men's High Jump; 11:00 a.m.: Men's Long Jump; 12:00 p.m.: Men's Shot Put; 1:45 p.m.: Men's 400-Meter Dash; 4:00 p.m.: Men's Discus Throw
CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'
A native of Loomis, Caiden Macktinger is the only Falcon on the Aztec Invitational travel roster to hail from the state of California.

The triple jump, hammer throw and javelin throw will take place on Friday (March 24) afternoon, while the remainder of events will take place on Saturday (March 25). IT'S SAM GILMAN'S WORLD, WE'RE JUST LIVING IN IT
03-22-23 | Sam Gilman was named the Mountain West Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year on March 22 – marking the third-straight season that the senior has earned the conference's top honor after sweeping the Indoor and Outdoor awards as a junior. Gilman is just the second Mountain West athlete to ever claim three consecutive awards on the men's side.

The Falcons return to California next weekend (March 30-April 1), as they head to the northern end of the state for the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco and the Stanford Invitational outside of Palo Alto.
